A man died by suicide in Haryana’s Rohtak after allegedly being harassed by his wife and her lover. Before committing suicide, the man, Magan, recorded a video and blamed his wife, Divya, and her lover, Deepak who is a constable with Maharashtra Police, for his death.
After seeing his video on social media, his family members went looking for him and found his body hanging from a tree.
The incident occurred on June 18. A complaint has been lodged against the deceased’s wife Divya and her lover Deepak and a hunt is on to nab them. Magan and Divya together have a son.
In the video, Magan alleged that his wife was pressuring him to murder his father and sell off family properties to fund a 5 lakh bribe aimed at securing a job promotion for her lover, Deepak. He also claimed she had plans to settle down with Deepak in Mumbai.
“I gave Rs 5 lakh to Divya after selling wheat. I mortgaged my bracelet and gave her another Rs 2 lakh. All the transaction details are there in my home. Even after all these, they are demanding Rs 1.5 lakh more,” Magan was seen saying in the video.
Magan was heard saying, “I cannot kill my father, instead I am taking my life.”
Magan’s family members also alleged that his wife Divya had sent him a video recorded by Deepak where she was seen dancing inside a hotel room and Deepak recording the episode. Both were also seen in a compromising state in the video.
The family members also said that Magan used to stay depressed after seeing the video.
Magan’s father said he never discussed about his wife’s affair or the torture faced by him. Everyone came to know about it through the final video.
In the video, Magan further alleged that Divya was already married at the time of their wedding and had a son from her previous marriage. He claimed she never divorced her first husband before marrying him.
“I consulted a lawyer who advised me to drag her to court. However, I helped her settle the matter with her first husband with money,” he said.
He also urged the authorities to take proper action against his wife and her lover Deepak and grant the custody of his son to his parents.
“I urge the MP and MLA to visit my home and assure my parents that my son won’t be taken away from them,” he said.
In the video, he also urged his sister, Savita, who works for woman’s right to also take up the issue and get him justice.
